Generally I create my own assets, though once in a blue moon a client will request that I animate another artist’s artwork. When doing so, I occasionally stumble upon a messy Illustrator file, but usually everything is in order. For the most part, vector artists seem to be a fastidious lot.
Recently I was asked to animate the opening of a fundraising video using artwork by illustrator/graphic designer Kim Carney. Carney’s lush illustration (below) was originally featured on the cover of Hutch Magazine, a publication of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
A work in progress, the animation takes us from logo reveal to the first chapter slide, Basic Science. – Joe Gast
