Every animation I create begins in Adobe Illustrator. I love the crispness of vectors. Recently I wondered if I could add a bit of texture to a video, without losing Illustrator’s innate clarity. Experimenting with the charcoal brushes from Illustrator’s brush library, I created two layered illustrations, both of men sitting in trees. Imported and animated in Adobe After Effects, here’s the final product. Do note that this was a stylistic experiment, a texture study. The animation is brief, with a minimal amount of storytelling. – Joe Gast
