Building assets in Ai

I love the ease of Adobe Illustrator. Build one character and you’ve built thirty. Copy and paste the character, change the hair color, squash the body… well you know the drill. Here I spent an hour or two populating an Ai file with characters and objects. While reviewing my script, I pulled pieces from the file and built scenes. Scenes, really just layered Illustrator files, were imported into After Effects and animated.

Hey I’ve been thinking about going into motion graphics, I like your style of design simple clean and to the point. You mentioned illustrator though how hard is it to come up with a motion like this using illustrator and are there any other tools you use?
