Last night I was sitting in on a gaming class while the instructor, Trevor, went over Adobe Photoshop basics. While not an expert, my Photoshop skills have evolved beyond the introductory level, so instead of listening I opened up Autodesk 3ds Max and built a box. The box quickly developed a nose, a chin, and surprisingly, antennae. After adding a mesh smooth modifier, plus diffuse and bump maps, I had a pair of fairly convincing Martians. – Joe Gast
